Cal State LA, together with Colorado School of Mines and Lehigh University, forms a University Transportation Center for Underground Transportation Infrastructure (UTC-UTI). This center is funded by the Department of Transportation through the end of 2021 with the possibility of a five year renewal.
The strategic areas supported by the center is "improving the durability and extending the life of underground transportation infrastructure". Underneath this umbrella the center is addressing three topic areas:
Both the EBRS and RSIC groups participate in the UTC-UTI. We are currently involved in two center-affiliated projects: Fiber-reinforced self consolidating concrete for underground transportation applications and Resilience and sustainability of underground transportation infrastructure.
